Mail Services Operator

Berne, Switzerland

Under the responsibility of the System and Network manager, the Mail Services Operator will manage the Postal Technology Centre’s (PTC’s) mail services applications, and monitor and report on user activity.

I - Description of post

Application & user administration tasks (50%)

• User management for all mail applications (EDIplatform, IPSLight, QCSmail)
• EDIPlatform:
  o Implementation of changes related to TP, TPA and mailboxes
  o Coordinate changes with Designated Operators and 3rd parties
  o Error, rejected messages and NoTPA handling
• IPS Light
  o Monitor IPS Light EDI services
  o Monitor and fix errors on IPS Light messages
• QCSmail
• Create and maintain QCS mail users

Proactive monitoring and reporting (30%)

• Following user activity and advise them in case of incident
• Preparation of the weekly SLA reports
• Reports on user activity trends (monthly to QSF and Parcels program)
• Maintain EDI global table and monthly status reports
• Perform regular evaluations of users activities

EDI 3rd level support (10%)

• Provide 3rd level support on UPU EDI standard messages
• Maintain a complete list of EDI mail contacts

Quality (10%)

• Collaborate to identify area of improvement at application and reports level (e.g.: write functional specifications for new reporting applications, etc.)
• Define and perform test cases for platform updates

II - Qualifications and experience required

1 Education

University degree or equivalent.

2 Professional knowledge and technical experience

•  Windows (2000/2003/XP/) OS administration
• SQL Server 2000/2005 administration
• TCP/IP networking knowledge
• Good practical knowledge of at least one: SQL language, XML, EDIFACT
• Work in a fast-paced, result-oriented multicultural environment
• Reliability
• Excellent communication skills, interacting with all levels of technical contacts
• IT Certifications and/or additional language skills will be an advantage

III – Language proficiency required

Good command of English and French in speaking and writing
