Jukka Rosenberg is the new senior vice president of Itella Mail Communication

Jukka Rosenberg has been appointed as the new senior vice president of the Itella Mail Communication business group. He will start working in the position on 1 February. He comes to Itella from IBM Global Services Nordic, where he has been working as a finance partner. Before IBM, Jukka Rosenberg worked for Tieto Group and Fujitsu Services.

“Jukka Rosenberg will bring valuable know-how to Itella concerning customer-oriented operations and service development. He also has extensive experience with the implementation of sector changes particularly related to IT, and this has a lot of links to changes in Itella’s operating environment,” said Jukka Alho, president and CEO of Itella.

Jukka Rosenberg added: “Working for Itella is a unique challenge and a great opportunity. Digital communication is becoming more extensive, and companies and citizens doing business digitally make it possible to build a new kind of competitiveness. I am happy to start cooperating with Itella’s skilled personnel, since they have a key role in the success of the company.”

The Itella Mail Communication business group has four subsidiaries: Itella Posti Oy, Itella Asiakkuusmarkkinointi Oy, the Russia-based OOO Itella Connexions and the Estonia-based SmartPOST OÜ.

UPS trials commercial drone deliveries in the USA

UPS has partnered with drone developer CyPhy Works to begin testing the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to deliver packages to remote or hard-to-reach locations.

The trials began with the mock delivery of a child’s inhaler from Beverly, Massachusetts, to Children’s Island approximately three miles off the Atlantic coast. The battery-powered Persistent Aerial Reconnaissance and Communications (PARC) drone used in the trial had been equipped with night vision cameras and secure communication channels.


UPU unveils online tool for helping posts reduce their carbon footprint

The Universal Postal Union (UPU) has launched a new online tool for analyzing and reporting annual postal emissions. The Online Solution for Carbon Analysis and Reporting (OSCAR) industry is the latest tool offered, free of charge, by the UPU to designated postal operators from its 192 member countries. The tool assists in creating comprehensive reports on greenhouse gas emissions with 20 key carbon performance indicators that enable postal services to track their progress over time, benchmark their performance against industry averages and helps to set reduction targets and offset emissions.
