Vanderlande Industries provides automated material handling systems and services. The company is active in the markets for baggage handling at airports, automated logistics processes in distribution centres and sorting solutions in parcel and postal facilities. The company implements material handling systems of all sizes, ranging from local sorting depots, airports and distribution centres to the world’s largest facilities.
Its systems and services focus on improving customers’ logistics processes and increasing their logistics performance throughout the entire lifecycle. The company strives for close cooperation with the customer, extending from initial analysis of the underlying business processes through to total lifetime support.
It is this focus on its customers that has won Vanderlande Industries this year’s Supplier of the Year award. “To support our customers in the best possible manner we have industry know-how, a broad product range and a set of skilled employees to realise these projects,” says Jan Hulsmann, managing director of distribution parcel and postal at Vanderlande. “These skills range from system design and engineering, through supply chain management and manufacturing, to information and communication technology, system integration, project management and customer services.
“We also believe that our customers deserve products in which materials are applied in a smart way, to secure availability of materials for the long term. This not only results in prolonged life for our installations, but also reduces material costs in delivering customer eco-effective and eco-efficient systems.”
To achieve this Vanderlande Industries adopted the Cradle to Cradle principle. Vanderlande Industries is in an exclusive partnership with EPEA, the international scientific research and consultancy institute founded by Michael Braungart, which improves the environmental product value and performance. “With this partnership, Vanderlande is able to focus more on the eco-effectiveness of products and solutions,” says Hulsmann.
Martijn van der Lande, general manager for parcel and postal, adds: “Our technology and solutions give our customers the most cost-efficient solution. Core products such as our line and loop sorters and conveyor solutions guarantee quality handling of our customer’s products and reliable operation. Software solutions like the VITAL software suite and Business Process Intelligence optimise material flows, system performance and management information.
Our technology is modular and is applied as the customer’s processes demand.
“We believe that our customers nominated us for this award because they appreciate our efforts. We have presented the right solutions for a large number of clients combined with a good commercial proposal and new, eco-efficient and eco-effective technology has had a great impact on the market.
“We are convinced that our introduction of the new crossbelt sorter family over the past 12 months has helped us a lot. The new sorter family has unique features and delivers great benefits to our customers. The judges apparently also noticed this. It makes us very proud and it feels fantastic to receive credit for our hard and dedicated work.”
